I'm a Big Boy Now

We started Cordon on cereal the other day. He is doing a lot better then I thought. Instead of all of it ending up on the bib just most of it ends up on the bib. Although, I think I end up more of a mess then he does. He laughs at everything which was cute until now. One time Chris had to tag me out and take over so I could rinse the cereal out of my eye.

FPU Graduate

Radio talk show host, Dave Ramsey, has a 13 week course called Financial Peace University. You can take it online or in a class setting by a Dave Ramsey affiliate. Chris and I just finished the online course and we LOVED it. He has 7 baby steps that take you from becoming debt free to wealth building and giving. The course covers each one in depth. He explains the fastest way to becoming debt free, the good and bad ways of saving for retirement and college, how to sell and buy real estate etc etc. He covers EVERYTHING about money and does it in an entertaining way. He is so animated and explains it all in such a simple way that it was fun to learn about it all. He even walks you through a process where just 5 years of simple investing will result in a free car every few years for life. But my favorite part about him is he backs up all his theories with scripture. If anyone is interested at taking the course you can go to his website at http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/home/

Seeing Double

I always knew Cordon looked like a Thompson but this is crazy. This is a photo of Chris's dad, John, when he was a baby. I guess I now know what Cordon will look like as an adult

Yes Virginia There Really is a Santa Clause, IN

We had a very festive weekend. Friday night we drove down to Santa Clause, IN. The town is very festive year round with Camp Rudolf, Holiday World etc. There is a gated community there, Christmas Lake, and for two nights they let the public drive through to see all the lights. It was pretty amazing. It took 45 min to drive around. Some of the houses had a few decorations but others would have put Clark W. Griswold to shame. Each street had their own theme such as The Grinch, Shepherds, Frosty etc. The last house was one of those where the lights flicker to music. It was pretty amazing.

This picture is really blurry but it's four little snowmen roasting marshmallows.

Saturday Chris's work had a Christmas party for all the employees children. They had crafts, food, gifts and of course Santa.

Then we drove an hour down to Evansville where the stake center had over 4,000 nativity's set up. It was so pretty. It amazes me that you can make the same scene into a million different ways. The picture below was our favorite. It was a full town. The top is where Joesph, Mary and Jesus are. On the bottom right you can see the wise men on camels going into town.

Goodbye Squeaky

I just realized the other day that Cordon no longer squeaks when he sleeps. He use to make the funniest noises when sleeping but I guess he out grew that. Notice the onsie bunched up around his head. Someone forgot to button it up on the bottom.

So Cute

I babysat my friends little boy yesterday. He was so sweet with Cordon and kept making sure he was ok. It took him a few tries but he finally got the pacifier in Cordons mouth

Cordon "Crying"

Cordon has never been very big on the whole crying thing (yes we realize how lucky we are) when he wants something he mostly grunts. His grunts have gotten louder and now he basically yells when he wants attention. Call me morbid but I think it's sort of funny.

Awwww Memories

I came across this photo the other day and it is one that always makes me laugh. This was taken about 10 years ago on a cruise. I had no idea my cousin Jeremy had turned me into a Pina Colada until my mom showed me the photo about a week later. Thanks cuz.

Puzzle Baby

My baby has become a puzzle. I keep trying to figure out where each piece of him comes from. Here is what I got so far....

His jaw line came from his Uncle Brian
His eyes he got from his Aunt Christy
He has his daddy's nose and feet

And somehow he ended up with Kermit the Frogs hands

Practice Makes Perfect

I had Cordon over my shoulder the other day and he was sucking on his arm. I didn't realize how hard he was sucking until later I saw he had given himself his first hickey. That was two days ago and he still has a mark on his arm. He is a Romeo in training.

Budzilla Strikes Again

I walked out of my room the other day and saw Bud standing in the hallway looking very guilty. So I started the "what did Bud do now" search and I found a heat pack on the floor torn open. Blue goo was ALL over the white carpet. Surprisingly I got it all out, yahoo for Resolve. It's been three days and I'm still finding blue flecks on the walls and carpet. I still love that crazy mutt though.

I use to think that we just got a crazy dog and there isn't much we can do about that stuff he does..... well my dad came to town and pulled out his Dog Whispering moves and within a few hours he was the pack leader. I never saw Bud do anything wrong when my dad was around..... I guess the problem is us and not Bud.... time to watch more of Ceaser Milan. Although maybe he wouldn't be so crazy if we didn't do stuff like this to him....

Bud has adjusted really well to Cordon. He is already very protective of him. If Cordon sneezes or coughs Bud will run over to make sure everything is ok. If Cordon cries and I can't get to him immediately then Bud will run over and sit next to him until I come. It is really sweet.

Cordons Blessing

We blessed Cordon at our church this weekend. Chris' parents and two sisters came and so did my parents. We were so excited that they all were able to make it. It was a great blessing.

One Month Old

I can't believe Cordon is already a month old . It seems like he just got here but at the same time it seems like he has been here forever. He is still pretty mellow. He can let out pretty big screams when he gets mad enough but all we have to do it pick him up and he immediately stops crying, he loves to cuddle when he is tired but when he is awake he loves to look around and gets mad if he can't see things, or if he has been in the same spot for to long. He is also not shy about his bodily noises. There is no such thing as a silent poop for him, they are all very loud and dramatic. I have heard him on the other side of the house. Yup, he's all Thompson!

Good Bye Working Class

It has been four weeks since my last day of work and it is just now hitting me that this isn't some vacation. I am a permanently stay at home mom. This is very strange for me considering I have had a job since I was 16. I've worked in a cafeteria, Realtors office, restaurants, dry cleaning etc etc. But here are the most memorable jobs I have had.....

Movies 8
The most traumatizing/educational job I ever had.

This was a dollar theater that had a tendency to attract the cities more "colorful" citizens. I heard a saw things that no 16 year old should be exposed to. However, this job got me out of my shell and comfort zone. Plus nothing makes you feel more sexy then a plastic neon bow tie and a Garth Brooks wannabe shirt.

Dr. Hamblin D.D.S
The longest held job.

I worked for my Uncles dental office for 4 years. I was trained on the job as a dental assistant. I met a lot of great people and really enjoyed the work. It is because of this job that I am now very faithful at brushing and flossing.

Nuesway Park
My favorite job

This park was run by the cities recreation department and I was able to help organize school field trips. The field trip included a nature hike, planetarium show, science projects, and a tour through the nature center. When I wasn't helping with the field trips then I was teaching rock climbing. I got paid to play all day. It was great

Master Brand Cabinets Inc.
My last job

While computer work and sitting in a tiny cubical 8 hours a day was not my favorite, I really enjoyed the people I worked with. I got along with all of them very well and enjoyed going to work everyday.

Being a Wife and Mom

My final and most rewarding job

Breaks My Heart

Chris' parents gave us this note a few years ago. I just came across it again and it makes me so sad every time I read it. Chris doesn't remember how old he was but he thinks he hid under the back porch. If you can't read it it says, "anyone, no one would let me do anything with em. Not even play me a game. So I hid, Chris"

Excuse Me! I Ordered the Large Ice Cream

My mom came out for a week after Cordon was born to help out. She was WONDERFUL!!!! She was like a silent maid. I still can't figure out how she did it, but I would leave a room for 5 minutes and when I came back she would either have everything spotless or dinner ready. When telling my sister about this she agreed and said that when my mom stayed with them when her last baby was born my brother in law actually thought he had two pairs of one shirt. He couldn't figure out how he put a shirt in the hamper and a few hours later it was folded in his closet.... silent maid strikes again! She even loaded up my freezer with different meals, I won't have to cook for a month. I have the best mom!

Her last night here we went to a small fast food place and challenged her to not only get the large ice cream cone but to finish it....... she did. That thing is massive, I kept waiting for it to fall off but it never did.

1 Week Old

We survived our first week. The first few days home were a bit hard but we are adjusting pretty good. Cordon has Jaundice, which isn't to bad, but he started out not eating very well and that can make the Jaundice worse. The first 3 days he would go 6-8 hours between feedings. Our Dr. told us he has to eat every two to help flush the Jaundice out of his system. If he doesn't nurse long enough then we have to force feed him 1/2 an ounce with this cup.

It was pretty frustrating at first but he is doing alot better. We only need to use the cup about once a day now and he is gaining weight nicely. He is also losing his yellow color so he is no longer our little Simpson's character. He is still extremely mellow. When he needs something he just grunts and squeaks till someone comes and he rarely cries.

Chris is already trying to brain wash him and get him addicted to Air Jordan

He makes this face all the time. I hope this isn't a preview of his teenage years as a Casanova

It's a Boy!!!

We were both expecting Jr to show up past his due date so imagine our surprise when I went into labor Wednesday morning, 10 days early. The contractions started coming regularly around 6 am and by 4 pm they were close enough that my Dr. sent me to the hospital. From 6 am to about 9 pm my contractions got worse but I had only progressed 1/2 centimeter. To speed things up my Dr. put me on pitossin. For anyone who doesn't know pitossin = horrible unimaginable pain. Fortunately they gave me wonderful pain killers to take the edge off. A few hours later they finally gave me the epidural and 1 1/2 hours later I was fully dilated. At this point it was 3:30 am, Chris was delirious due to lack of sleep, I was loopy from all the pain killers given earlier, the Dr. and nurse both had a great sense of humor and kept joking with us so the whole birth turned into a laughing fest. I basically laughed the baby out. At one point they had to calm me down and get me to stop laughing because it was pushing the baby out and the Dr wasn't ready. 4:30 am on 8.21.08 Cordon Wendell Thompson was born. He is 19 1/2 inches long and 7 lbs 6 oz's. He is very healthy and mellow and we are so excited he is finally here.
