Happy Birthday Cordon

Cordon has hit the 1 year mark. In some ways I can't believe he is already 1 and in other ways I cant believe he is only 1. I will admit that I have already had days when I wanted to sell him to the gypsies but he is so much fun and I'm so glad we finally got this little guy here. I love spending my days playing with him and watching him try to figure out the world around him. Although he looks like a mini Chris I have been seeing a lot of my personality come out in him. Mostly with how mad he gets when someone tries to help him with something. He is very independent and doesn't want help. As a child my main saying was "I can do it all mine byself". I am loving each stage his goes through but I am excited for him to start talking so I can see more of his personality.
The only sugar Cordon has had so far is a few bites of ice cream (which he didn't like) and a small piece of a donut. He hasn't shown much interest in sugar so we weren't sure how he would handle the cake. He started off having a marvelous time finger painting in the frosting then Chris showed him that this fun toy was actually eatable. He couldn't get the cake in his mouth fast enough. He ate half the thing in about 30 seconds then looked sick and wanted nothing else to do with it. After a hose down and nice long nap he opened his presents. Ok, really it was me trying to get him to sit still long enough so I could open them and convince him that something fun was inside.

That tractor has turned into a winner. He has been pushing it all over. Although after one day I am already wanting to toss it out the window. How many times can I hear "The Farmer In the Dale" before it drives me insane?

Finger painting

mmmmm

Being a stay at home mom with one child in a new city leaves me with to much free time. But I still enjoyed making this video.

We Love you little man. Happy Birthday!

Busy Boy

I get weekly emails about how my child should be developing. At this point Cordon should be walking, saying a few words, identifying objects etc. Not my boy. He is to busy pushing things to learn any of that useless stuff.

Family Photos

While we were in Utah my extremely talented cousin, Heather, took our photos. It's nice to finally have professional photos of us as opposed to Chris setting the timer on the camera then making a mad dash to sit by us.

Lake Tobias

We went to a privately owned animal park this weekend. They had a petting zoo (Cordon had NO interest in that) and a few caged animals but the highlight was the little safari tour. The animals obviously have been conditioned because the second the car stopped they would wonder right up to us looking for food.

Check out this dudes antlers. I kept worrying that he was going to turn his head fast and take someone out. I was surprised at how soft the antlers where. No wonder they call them velvet.

This guy was positive that the camera was food and kept trying to bite it.

Oh hello buffalo.

Reunion

We just got back from a 10 day trip to Utah. The last time Chris's entire family was together was at our wedding, 8 years ago. A Thompson reunion was long over due. Some how I became in charge of it all and I have spent the last year planning and re-planning. Everyone got to Chris's parents house a week early and we spent our time doing our own things and doing a few things together. The actual reunion was a weekend at my grandpas ranch in southern Utah. I love that place, it demands relaxation and fun. No T.V, no Internet and no phones is my kind of vacation.

It was the first time a lot of the Thompson's got to meet Cordon so needless to say he was the hit of the party. He had his own groupies everywhere he went. He got overstimulated and cried a few times but over all he did really good. Here are the highlights of the whole trip.

The whole Thompson clan at our finest.

Stewart Falls

Hiking Timpanoogos. We didn't want to take Cordon to the top (that wouldn't exactly be very safe) so around three miles I strapped him on my back and headed home while everyone else continued on.

Nothing says reunion like a mad dash for candy. Yes, that would be me up the tree. Looking at that photo makes me realize I still have some postpartum work to do. I got some nice cushion on that back side.

Cordons first time on a horse. He was more interested in getting his toes tangled in the mane.

Walking down Twin Hollow at the ranch

My sweet Grandpa Foote. It was the first time he met Cordon.

You know your tired when you don't realize that you are no longer on the mattress.

Blast From The Past

I met Sharilyn when I was 6 and we have been best friends ever since. She is the type of friend that will tell you when your being an idiot but still love you anyways. I always appreciated that about her. She has been there for me anytime I needed her. Two years ago she got married but due to other things going on in my life I couldn't make it. This last weekend she and her husband where sealed in the Manti temple and I was not about to miss that. Cordon and I flew out for a couple days and I was able to go to her endowment session and sealing. (For all our non LDS friends who are completely scratching there heads right now..... an endowment session is when we make special promises to the Lord in the temple and a sealing is when you are sealed to your spouse for all eternity and not until death) While I was out and about, Cordon got to play with Grandpa and Grandma Thompson. It was the longest time we have been apart but he still did pretty good. He got a bit clingy towards the end of the trip but I expected that.

It was SO nice to have an empty seat next to me on one of the flights. I can't believe he left those headphones in.

He threw a pretty good temper tantrum one night when I put him down. When I went to check on him I found this. I would have loved to watch him wiggle his way out of his pants. I had to wait until he was in another position to get the pants back on without waking him up.

Sharilyn, Jill and I during one of our finer moments in high school. I think we were going to a Decades Dance.

This is my favorite picture of Sharilyn.

Jill (left) and Mandy (right) are also some close friends of mine. I loved driving the 90 min to Manti with them and reminiscing in the car. We had some good times in high school. This was in front of the Manti Temple just after the sealing. Such a pretty temple.

I May Already Be A Winner

I fully understand that the odds are slim and that every mother thinks their kid is cuter then every other kid but I just couldn't help myself. I entered Cordon into a local cute baby contest. There is a panel of judges but popularity also counts so on July 6th we would appreciate your votes at this link

P.S. The link keeps being funny and not showing the whole picture. So here is the one I submitted.
